Mr. Richard Senyo Kwakye is an Assistant Lecturer at Department of General and Liberal Studies, School of Basic and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho - Ghana, where he teaches all French language-related programs such as French for Medical Professionals, Functional French and French for Communication.
Education
Prior to joining UHAS in August 2018, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in French at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), graduating first class and top of his graduating class in 2008. He then served as a Teaching & Research Assistant in the Department of Modern Languages, KNUST, for a year after which he enrolled in and completed his Master of Philosophy(MPhil)- French program in 2012.
Work experience
As a graduate student at the Department of Modern Languages, he was an Assistant Lecturer at KESSBEN College in Kumasi (2015 to 2018), where he taught French to undergraduate students. He was also a volunteer French instructor at Kumasi campus of International Bible Training College (2016 – 2018). He has also taught French at the basic school level as well as Alliance Française (2012). Richard is passionate about languages and is fluent in English and French. He also reads, writes, understands, and speaks German fairly well, as well as three Ghanaian languages. He was also a Demonstrator (September 2010 – May 2011), teaching French for Communication to undergraduate science students.
Science/Research output
His research interests include sociolinguistics and textual linguistics with their application to the teaching of French as a foreign language (FFL) and French for specific purposes (FSP). His thesis focused on the application of Jean-Michel Adam’s textual linguistic approach to an authentic African text.
