The Department of Basic Sciences, established in 2012, is tasked with teaching courses in the basic sciences across the university. It delivers its mandate through a combination of lectures, laboratory experiments, tutorials and project-based learning. Students gain a solid grasp of the basic sciences, with emphasis on the practical applications of these concepts, while preparing students to tackle real-world challenges in their chosen careers. The courses taught in the Department include physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and statistics and research methods. The Department is involved in research across the different fields of basic sciences. The Department has faculty under four (4) units: Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Applied Physics.
