Overview
Strategic Partnerships and Global Collaborations Advancing Research and Innovation at SBBS
The School of Basic and Biomedical Sciences (SBBS) maintains strong national and international collaborations that support research excellence, staff development, innovation, and student training. Key partnerships include a Memorandum of Understanding with Fudan University, China, under the Human Phenome Project and an active collaboration with the University of Edinburgh through the TIBA Partnership.
The School also works closely with industry partners, including Novartis and other biomedical organizations, to promote applied research and innovation. SBBS is engaged in snake anti-sera and vaccine-related research in collaboration with the Ghana National Vaccine Institute (GNVI) and partners with the University of Ghana Business School on the “Think Ghana” initiative to promote entrepreneurship and innovation.
In addition, the School collaborates with University of Ghana Medical School on research projects that seeks to strengthen capacity in infectious disease and non-communicable diseases. Through these strategic partnerships, SBBS enhances research output, facilitates joint postgraduate training and faculty exchange, improves access to shared facilities and contributes to addressing national and global health challenges. These collaborations continue to position the School as an emerging hub for biomedical research and international academic engagement.
