Dr. Felix Odame

I am delighted to welcome you to the Department of Basic Sciences, School of Basic and Biomedical Sciences, University of Health and Allied Sciences. As the Head of Department, it is my privilege to lead a group of committed faculty and staff who are passionate about working together to realize the Department's goal while making a significant contribution to the university's vision. Our Department is dedicated to innovation, research and instruction and has a long tradition of academic excellence and success. Our quest in providing quality teaching to the university community is a source of pride to us. We are driven by a shared vision of becoming a critical part of a preeminent health institution through the provision of accessible and innovative technology-mediated training in the basic sciences.  The Department plays a key role in helping students gain an appreciation of scientific concepts in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and statistics and research methods. 
Faculty in the Department contribute to scientific literature by conducting original research in basic sciences and publishing in reputable journals. The Department has expertise across different fields of science making collaborative projects easier to undertake. Areas of research include mathematical modelling, applied mathematics, theoretical physics, applied physics, computational chemistry, drug discovery, chemical biology, phytochemistry, nanotechnology, material science, inorganic chemistry, cosmetic science and environmental science.
